Wildlife
At Freycinet Sea Cruises we are committed to monitoring our threatened and endangered wildlife. Wildlife sightings are recorded during every cruise then added to a database we keep. Every few months we send our records to the Tasmanian Nature Conservation branch to aid them in the monitoring of some special and unique species of marine mammals and birdlife. We encourage all our passengers to be a part of this important work and assist us with our daily sightings.
Some of the wildlife we see and record during our cruises include
• Bottlenose Dolphins Common Dolphins
• Australian Fur Seals Shy Albatross
• Yellow Nosed Albatross Wandering Albatross
• White Bellied Sea Eagle Wedge tailed Eagle
• Fairy Penguin Humpback Whales
• Southern Right Whales
• The occasional Orca / Killer Whale.
We have also had a sighting of a Blue Whale, a rare and treasured moment for all Guests and Crew.
For anyone who has ever cruised with us we are starting a wildlife pin up board on our website and welcome any photos you may have taken.
These may be forwarded to The Tasmanian Nature Conservation Branch to help with identification of individual animals both now and in the future.
